INFiLED, Scenarchie and BTB Audiovisuel Deliver New Digital Impact in Paris

Retail WP Series Indoor

Overview

In the heart of Paris lies Westfield Forum des Halles, one of the city’s most recognisable shopping and leisure destinations. Located beneath the iconic Canopée structure, the centre brings together more than 150 shops, world’s most-visited cinema and a wide range of public cultural facilities, attracting an astounding 64 million visitors each year.

To keep pace with the centre’s high foot traffic and frequently updating multimedia spaces, Westfield wanted to renew an existing LED screen in Place Carrée, a key crossroads where shoppers and passengers moving between the Paris metro and RER intersect. They wanted to create a large-format digital display that had a strong visual presence, capable of bringing brand campaigns and retail content to life in one of the centre’s most visible indoor locations.

To realise their vision, Westfield worked with Scenarchie, a renowned French AV designer, to define the project’s requirements and provide technical guidance. BTB Audiovisuel, one of INFiLED’s key AV systems integration partners in France, won the highly competitive tender to deliver the project.

The result achieved was beyond expectations – a striking 8.4m x 4.7m LED screen selected from INFiLED’s versatile WP Series, delivering a high-impact digital focal point in one of Europe’s most high profile retail environments.

Partnership

The success of the Westfield Forum des Halles project heavily relied on close collaboration between Westfield, Scenarchie, BTB Audiovisuel and INFiLED.

As the end customer, Westfield sought a high-quality display solution that could enhance the retail environment while meeting the technical demands of a busy public space. Scenarchie brought its experience in scenography, digital design and audiovisual consulting, helping to define the needs of the project and ensure the final display would sit comfortably within the scale, function and flow of Place Carrée.

“Once the specifications were defined, Westfield and Scenarchie launched a tender with several suppliers. One was BTB Audiovisuel, a premium French system integrator and INFiLED’s AV partner. We responded to this together and won the project, beating out a number of other premium contenders,” says Mathieu Arnould, INFiLED France Country Sales Manager. “We were selected based on the relevance of our technical and commercial proposal, as well as the level of quality expected by the client.”

In delivering the project, BTB Audiovisuel took full responsibility for the onsite installation and integration, drawing on its extensive expertise across advanced audiovisual systems, immersive display environments and technical infrastructure.

Our INFiLED team supplied the LED display technology, specifically this model from our WP Series family,  and provided on-the-ground technical support throughout key stages of the project.

Challenges

As with any installation of this scale, there were bound to be some practical and technical challenges.

First, the screen was located in a highly visible, high-traffic retail environment, where any disruption to the public and surrounding retailers had to be carefully managed.

“As a result, the entire installation had to take place at night during the shopping centre’s closing hours, between 10pm and 7am,” says Jean-Pierre Leandre, Head of AV BTB Audiovisuel.

BTB Audiovisuel’s team were responsible for dismantling the existing LED screen, managing the power and fibre cabling, integrating the controller into a technical rack and installing the new display onto the existing structure. This structure also needed to be adapted to accommodate the new screen, requiring careful coordination from the installation team.

The scale of the display also demanded exacting installation standards. At 8.4 metres wide and 4.7 metres high, the screen needed to deliver a seamless visual result across a large surface area. With a 2.5mm pixel pitch and a resolution of 3360 x 1890 pixels, even small misalignments between cabinets or modules could affect the overall image quality.

Solution

To deliver the required visual impact, BTB Audiovisuel selected INFiLED’s WP Series, known for its fine pixel pitch, image quality and suitability for indoor retail environments.

The 2.5mm pixel pitch provided the resolution needed for a large-format screen viewed from different distances across Place Carrée, with visitors approaching from multiple directions and levels. The screen maintained visual clarity both from nearby walkways and from further across the mall.

The WP Series is also designed to support high-definition visual performance, with strong brightness, contrast, grayscale and refresh-rate capabilities. For Westfield Forum des Halles, these qualities ensured the screen could display vivid retail campaigns and branded content with the clarity and intensity required in a bright, visually busy shopping environment.

The final screen measured 8.4m x 4.7m, with a resolution of 3360 x 1890 pixels, and was configured with a Novastar H Series controller and six CVT10-S fibre units. The 16:9 panel ratio made it particularly well suited to a large-format retail display, supporting a screen configuration that could present content at scale while maintaining a clean, proportionate image.

While the technical capabilities were important, the physical design of the WP Series also made it a standout choice for this specific installation. With an ultra-thin cabinet profile and a slim, seamless finish, the display could be integrated into the existing architectural setting without appearing bulky or intrusive. This was especially valuable in Place Carrée, where the screen needed to create a strong ‘wow effect’ while still sitting neatly above the surrounding storefronts.

The project was completed over eight evenings by the BTB Audiovisuel team, with careful onsite configuration and support from INFiLED’s local technical team.

Result

The completed display gives Westfield Forum des Halles a striking new digital focal point in one of its busiest interior spaces. Positioned above the retail frontage in Place Carrée, the screen is immediately visible to shoppers, visitors and commuters moving through the centre. Jean-Pierre Leandre was more than happy with the outcome.

“A screen of this size with a 2.5 mm pixel pitch requires flawless installation quality, and I was genuinely impressed by the level of care taken in the integration, as well as the overall quality of work by our team and our partner, INFiLED,” he says.

“The cabinets were perfectly aligned, as were the modules. Exceptional attention was paid to the overall integration: nothing protrudes, everything was executed to perfection. It is truly remarkable work resulting in a high-quality screen that everyone notices.”
